Questions
What makes EC Custom Homes different?
Ed chooses only a few select projects each year—projects that he and his clients can be passionate about. He personally leads and works on each project alongside the best subcontractors in the business.
At EC Custom Homes, we focus on achieving the highest quality standards, keeping your project on schedule, and holding to the budget. We see our clients as partners in the creative process of building beautiful custom homes and major remodels. We will work together to create a pre-construction services agreement as well as communicate with you regularly to ensure your project goes smoothly.
How do you determine the timeline for my project and keep it moving forward?
We’ll work closely with you to determine the scope of your project and the timeline you’re looking for. Together we’ll agree on the schedule and target completion date.
To keep your project moving forward on schedule, we’re proactive about ordering materials, coordinating subcontractors, and scheduling required inspections.
We’ll communicate frequently with you and meet regularly to review progress and next steps. Keeping you in the loop helps minimize delays.
What if something unexpected comes up?
Surprises sometimes happen. When they do, we’re proactive in finding workable solutions while remaining true to your project. We’ll work with you to resolve any issues and keep your project moving forward.
How is the cost of my project determined?
Pricing depends on many factors like the project’s size, complexity, and materials used. You will have the opportunity to choose the features of your custom home. What you choose, of course, affects the cost. We’ll be there to guide you, so you can be confident you’re making the best choices.
Once you’re happy with the final plans, we calculate the budget for your project. Our prices are competitive and fair.
After work starts, you may see opportunities to improve on our plans, and we can adjust as we go. For example, if you decide you’d like to add special fixtures, we’ll make sure to discuss the cost with you before proceeding. It’s important to us that you are in control of the budget.
When is payment due?
We will provide you with a payment schedule. When each phase is complete—and approved by you—you’ll receive an invoice. If you’re using bank financing, we’ll have the bank approve the payment schedule before we start your project.
What kinds of projects do you do?
Ed is a custom builder, specializing in major home remodels, ADUs, and building custom homes from the ground up.
As the general contractor, how will Ed be involved with my project?
Ed will be directly involved with your project, because it’s what he loves to do. It’s his approach to be active, hands on, and on site. You will see him frequently. He’ll be a part of all the decisions and details of your project.
Can you help me find an architect?
Yes! We work with many of the best architects on the Central Coast. Ed is happy to refer you to an architect who would be a great fit for you.
How can I be sure that all of your subcontractors are licensed and bonded?
We only work with licensed and bonded subcontractors. You can request copies of their documentation at any time.
